Ok, so I know that I'm only 18 and am likely the last person people want to hear this from but I think it's important to talk about. Did you know that birth rates around the world are at an all time low? People are always freaking out because we're over-populating and we won't be able to support ourselves and all that fun stuff but as it turns out, that isn't true. In my family class we've been talking a lot about this. One of the things we talked about was how both Presidents Young and Kimball addressed these issues. And they weren't even issues yet! Is it hard? YES! But what are the excuses given for denying one of our God's beloved children the opportunity to come to a body where they will be raised with the knowledge of the gospel? That we want to travel? That we want to get a start on our careers first? President Kimball said in a 1975 Ensign "There will be rationalists who will name to you numerous reasons for postponement. Of course, it will be harder to get your college degrees or your financial start with a family, but strength like yours will be undaunted in the face of difficult obstacles". My parents might have stopped at three. They quite easily could have. There had been quite a large gap between births. But had they chosen that course I would not have any of my brothers or my baby sister. And my family would have been different in a way that I'm not ok with. So I want to thank my parents. For doing something incredibly hard, that has made me the person I am and given me more joy than I can express. I hope I can fallow your example one day.
Hi! Just a quick introductory, my name is Amy Arnoldsen. I am the second of seven children. I am from Orem, Utah, but I am currently living in Idaho studying Psychology. I love people and children. I could read all day long and it would never be enough. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, or the LDS faith, or 'Mormon'. I love life and love to learn. I'm going to be posting on the things I learn in my Family class this semester and I would love to hear your thoughts on things as well!
